Lost, but Seeking

[David Augustine]

David lept back saw the darkness that approached him. He gripped his spear in a defensive stance. He saw the thrust coming and made the sidestep to left. He then countered the slash with the blunt end of his spear, the cut he twirled his spear in front of him to deflect. The next thrust almost caught him off guard and had no choice but to roll away from it. He managed to keep the cut away by trying to execute his own cut. He continued to back away. He nearly avoided the slash that came at him. He was now near his sword that was on the ground. He let go of the spear with his right hand and used it to block the following slash. He grabbed his sword and swung it and used it to deflect the final thrust. He spun himself infront of Kaldaka. He stood infront of her facing the same way. His spear positioned behind and touching her back. His sword raised to her neck. David panted as he caught his breathe. "Is this when you smile and kiss me or do I kiss you?" he said jokingly.

Kaldaka's eyes sparkled. "No, no," she insisted. "That always comes at the end of a fight!" Grabbing his spear with her left hand and pulling it away, she jerked her head away from the sword and ducked, then grabbed her own sword lying on the ground near her. Pulling it up, she blocked his next attack and then went in again, attacking with the staff and defending herself with her sword.

David chuckled at what she said. He used his spear to block and his sword to attack. Thus he was closer to her than when he was just fighting with his spear. His attacks continued and flowed together. His kept his balance as he fought and on occasion would switch his blocking and attacking weapons to just mix things up a bit.

Kaldaka blocked the moves he threw at her with a flowing grace that had not been present so far. The night had been advancing, and now she seemed to meld into it, her swirling black cloak, black hair, and black clothes making her blend into the night. Her staff and sword also blended into the night, making it hard to see where they came from as she attacked and blocked his moves with a graceful ease.

The light that his weapons illuminated allowed David to see her enough to he could block and counterstrike. It was getting late in the night. This looked like it was going to go on all night and into the morning. He didn't stop, even though he was starting to tire. The excitement he got from this fight spurred him on with more energy. As the fight advanced, he advanced. He always took it to the next step. His movements becoming faster and his blows started to possess more power. It just didn't seem to be any limit that they could reach.

The light that David's weapons gave out was being pulled into her own weapons as fast as it could shine. His attack became fiercer and she blocked it, feeling a surge of excitement running through her. She knew that once the day came, she would be at a disadvantage, and wanted to end this fight soon, even though there were many hours of dark yet. Her own attack grew fiercer as she advanced towards him.

David did what was necessary to get by Kaldaka's attacks. Whether it was to jump, duck, sidestep, block, or counterattack, he did it. They kept going back in forth across the barracks. He would advanced towards her and then back away as she started to advance. This as caused tables to be turned and equipment to become broken. David managed to lock her sword with his and her staff with his spear. His body close to hers again. He breathed heavily to catch his breathe. He looked down and into her eyes.

Their eyes caught for a moment and Kaldaka felt something stir in her. For a moment, an odd light flickered in her eyes. But soon the moment was broken as Kaldaka broke her glance away, feeling confused at what had happened. Shaking her head to clear it, she advanced once more.

David saw that flicker in her eyes. It was only for a moment and then she started advancing again. He backed away and defended himself as necessary. He didn't make any offensive movements just yet. He was waiting for the right timing for the perfect moment to strike. He continued to deflect and guard against her attacks. His counter strikes didn't hold as much power as they did a few minutes ago. He only did them to make her guard or to stop her from attacking him for a moment.

Kaldaka noticed the slowing of his cuonter attacks and kept on guard, suspicious of his motives. She doubled her own attack, trying to force him as far back as possible.

He was able to continue his guarding. David noticed that she started attacking more often. In one swift movement, he used his sword to deflect an attack from her sword and staff simultaniously. He then went in for a thrust of his spear it heading straight for her. He ran up to her body and stopped right in front of it. His spear head past her head at the side. He smiled at her. He was getting tired. His eyes were heavy with sleep. He didn't know how much longer he could go on.

Kaldaka smiled back at him with her eyes as she used the rebound of her staff and sword to knock his weapons away from her and then held her weapons at the ready for an attack. Her mouth was in a tight line as she waited for his attack, slowly circling him, but her eyes shone with laughter.

David stood there and watched her circle him. He was enjoying this as much as she was. His weapons both pointing towards the ground. He regained his breathe and was ready for whatever she might through at him. His expression said that he was serious about this, but inside he truly enjoyed this spar.

[Kaldaka/Traveller]

Kaldaka brought her weapons up slowly, giving him time to get his own up, and then attacked with a whirlwind of blows, her staff and sword disappearing into a tornado of black that seemed a strong contrast to David's sword and spear.

David went charging in. He picked his weapons up and jumped above her. He then started moving his weapons as he came downward upon her. Both his weapons looking as if blurs of light.
