Saphira sat by the waters of the lake that reflected the almost full moon in its perfection, its clear surface that made gentle ripples at each breath of wind. She sat very still, remembering... "Nat! Come back! I love you! Nat!"....her brother continued to fade away... "I need to go...I'll be back..." "Promise me! Swear it..." "Salaam little sister...." "Swear it!" "I.." And he was gone.....he said he would come back, on this particualr date, particular time...beside waters...he said....but he never did come back...not for 7 long years.... Saphira still came to the lake, every night that was once promised a return of her brother. She came, though every year made it less likely, every passing moon light made it less possible. But she came...but she came in vain. He never did keep his promise. Though he never did make any. Saphira tied to forget that. "So much for your promises..." she said bitterly into the water. But she couldn't help hoping...just maybe...maybe...

Nathaniel swallowed. It was rash, it was rushed but he couldn't just.... He bit his lower lip and walked towards the figure by the water's edge, sitting. The wind ran through his raven black hair. He kept on walking, making no attempt to hide the sounds of his footsteps. her elfin ears would surely pick them up. Nathaniel kept on walking. To a person he once knew...who was now a stranger. He was't even sure if she loved him anymore. But she was hopeuful. She came to the water's edge even though it was so long ago that he... He came to a halt behind her.

She turned to scowl at hte new comer. She wanted to be alone. But her features froze at the sight of him. Colour drained out of her face until she was almost transparent looking. Her frame was still and tense as her eyes travelled up to the figure's face.
Her face.
"Water's edge...Full moon, I'll be there!...I'll try...I love you...." and he was gone......
But he was back. A stranger. Her brother. Back. After all this time. SHe wasn't sure how to react. To embrace him? She was utterly speechless, tense, confused. It was all too sudden, this appearance, this return. She remained speechless but stood up to face her brother. She was still very pale, and considering her age, she was handling this extremely calmly and with considerable grace. "Nathaniel?" she breathed at last, so quielty the sound was alsmost lost in the nght time breeze.

There was a lump in his throat. Most uncharacteristic. "Yes." THere was a long silence. It was a dead pause. Finally, Nathaniel broke it, unable to hold back his tumbling and confused emotions. He had thought to return, that his only sister would be pleased, happy, crying and hugging him. Apparently not. "Well....aren't you...happy to see me?" he said awkwardly.
