The sky overhead was as clear, blue, and calm as the waters of the large, expansive lake that stretched out in front of her. Mira watched them, her mind totally blank as she stared out at the expanses. That was all she did, stare.
She had come here to escape the hassles of daily life, as usual. She was getting so fed up with it all, every aspect of her restricted, pressured life. She wanted out. And sometimes she even wished that she had never been born into the Nightingale house. Living life as a peasant, a merchant, or a warrior or mage would surely be better than living life as a noble lady. Nobles didn’t get to do anything. It wasn’t fair.
She screamed out loud for a moment, and then let out a whoosh of breath. That had definitely made her feel better, and had taken away some of her stress. With a sigh she carefully gathered her emerald colored skirts around her, and sat down underneath a tree, leaning her back up against the trunk and trying to relax and enjoy the relaxing day ahead of her.

Alezand, accompanied by Tyanno Dynam, briskly marched through the woods until they made th clearing that held the lake. Heavily clad and burdened, the two soldiers were heading on their way to the most important mission yet to date. They had all their armor, all their weapons, shelters, and rations. It would be along time before they would return to this land. They were marching to join the growing battle to come between good and evil. It was to take place far from here, and the details of the mission were still unable to be told to others yet. Alezand was going to miss it here. The people here were kind, friendly, and full of heart. These were the kind of people he and Tyanno fought for. Not for the glory, the chance to tell boastful stories. No, the pride was in the job of a sworn protectorate. The young faces of childeren, their eyes wide with awe as he pass by, free to live out their childhood without worry because men and women like Alezand were there to stand their ground. Women would see their husbands return home safely from the day's chores, fearing not of the chance that some murderer lurked in the alleys on the path back home, for the Soldier already dealt with that darkness before hand. He stopped, Tyanno having a chance to catch up. Yes, they had a long journey ahead, but he still wanted to take in the sight one last time. He finally noticed Mira, standing on the banks facing away out into the lake's glassy presence. He had seen her in a dogs age. He nodded towards his partner and strode over to the young woman...

Mira absently twirled a strand of hair around her finger as she gazed out at the inviting waters. She wanted to go take a dip in the water, for some odd reason, but knew if her parents ever heard about it then she would get so many lectures about proper behavior for a lady, and then be confined to the house, or made to travel with a servant or bodyguard. She didn’t want that at all. She wanted freedom! Once again, she contemplated what life would be like if she ran away from home, if no one knew who she was, if she could learn to fight with a sword or a bow. She knew she would need an ungodly amount of practice, since she’d never used a weapon of any kind her whole life, but it would be worth it!
Suddenly, she heard footsteps coming from off to her right. She turned her head and her blue eyes toward the two men, heavily armored and burdened with what she assumed to be weeks, many even months, worth of rations. As one of the men looked her way, she realized that he looked very familiar. As she tried to place his face, she realized who it was. It was Alezand, the warrior who had helped her that one day months ago when she had gotten lost in an alley in the city. She hadn’t seen him in ages! Her parents had kept her confined to the house for all sorts of ridiculous parties and balls trying to get her married off to some pompous idiot twice her age.
As Alezand started walking her way she rose up to her feet gracefully to greet him.
