Dealing with it

[David Augustine]

David walked the mountain trail again. He didn't know why, but he felt like this was his only option. He entered the cave that he had visited recently so many times. He entered it's depths and drew his sword as a source of light. He placed it on the elevated stone that he always set it on.

As David took his seat on another rock near by, a dragon approached him from the cave's depths. The dragon's scales were midnight blue and his eyes were green with red slits for pupils. David petted the dragon's head as he shook his own.

"What am I going to do?" David asked, "How am I going to fix this, Bahamut?"

Avean strode up the mountain, perching herself upon a rock far up. She leaned her chin on her hand and sighed deeply.
Avean had been so horrible to Rith, she didn't think he would ever speak to her without an awkward moment but she couldn't be with David.
Avean ran her hands through her hair and squeezed her eyes closed. She laid down on the rock and looked up at the sky.
"Nothing is as it use to be" she said outloud to herself.

David heard Avean's words, but didn't move right away. He looked down at Bahamut, who stared at him. The dragon then nudged David towards the exit as to tell him to go. "What? I can't go out there!" he told Bahamut, "You know that for a fact. I know about your history and stuff." It didn't take long for David to stop talking and do what the dragon told him, because the dragon slowly rose it's head and prepared to breathe it's infernal flames.

David looked upward toward the source of Avean's voice. "Avean?" he called out to her, "Avean are you there?"

Avean's eyes buldged. She had hoped no one was here.
Her voice crackled. "Who-" she began, but stopped. At first she had merely recognized the voice but couldn't place it but now knew, it was David.
Avean sat up and looked around, a bit confused.

David looked back down at Bahamut. He shrugged his shoulders. The dragon just gave him a look that said he was going to make David his next meal. David backed up as far as he could. He looked back up trying to see Avean. He saw apart of her clothing but that was about it. "Hey, I'm down here!" he shouted and waving his hand.

Avean looked around then saw a moving hand. She walked up to the edge and felt the ground move unsteadily.
"Oh crap." she managed before falling down to the entrance. Avean stood up and brushed her dress off.
Avean didn't look at him but continued to scale the area she had fallen. She chuckled.

David was unsure of what to say. He was nervous. From one point, he was talking to Avean. The other point, he felt the dragon's gaze still on him. "So how has life been treating you?" he asked her nervously.

Avean looked to David and frowned. "Horribly I guess..." she said, her voice steady and tinged with curiousity.
Avean quirked her eyebrow a tad and looked away, her eyes focused on the rocks around them.

"I really miss you." David told her. He let out a heavy sigh of some relief trying to relax himself. He walked towards the cave. "Do you remember this cave?" he asked her, "This is the cave that you found me at that one day. I was trying to hide something from you. I guess I'll let you know today. I was going to show you the next day, but you left. Just one thing. You have to promise that you won't tell anyone what you are about to see."

Avean sniffed, not truley believing him but then followed him in the cave.
"I remember." she said, not showing any real emotion but was feeling sad. Avean, more than anything, wanted to hug him but held back the impulse due to her intense heart break.
"I have no one to tell so I guess I promise.."

"Okay." David replied to her as he stopped and turned. "Say hello to Bahamut." His arms were outstretched towards the dragon that laid there. It had midnight blue scales and large wings. His eyes were red as rubies and had emerald green slits for pupils. It shifted it's gaze from David to Avean. He stared at Avean wondering what she would do.

Avean turned her gaze to the dragon, her eyes growing wide. She didn't say anything just watched the creature.
A simple 'wow' came from her lips but nothing else.

"His name is Bahamut." David explained, "He's the king of dragons. We've been helping each other before I came to Avaren. In fact, the day that I met him was the day that I decided to become a dragoon. It was a fierce battle that day. I'll never forget it. I don't think I've ever had a fight that great."

He had a smile on his face. The memory of that day was great to him. It started the bond between a dragoon and his dragon partner. He turned to face Avean. "I really do miss you. I didn't know that you loved me like you did." David explained, "I still care for you Avean. I don't want to see you beat yourself up because of what happened between me and Raven. I'm sorry, that I hurt you like I did. I should've talked with you first. I think of you like the sister I never had. I truly do. You don't have to live with me if you don't want to."

[Avean Luxenbourg]

Avean turned to David and nodded. When he started to talk about Her she figeted.
"I've gotta go." she said, turning, Avean really didn't want to talk about that. She walked to the edge of the entrance and jumped up, floating to the top where she had been before.
Avean began to struggle with her foot as it slowly became stuck between two rocks.
She swore under her breath and pulled it out with agility.

David sighed and looked at Bahamut. "What?" he told him, "I tried what I could." He shrugged at the dragon and walked to the edge of the cave. He looked across Avaren wondering what he was doing.
