Hunt at Home (David)

[Eranni of the Northtower Clan]

Eranni frowned slightly, not fully understanding. These mountains were always cold! She;d lived in them long enough to know that!

"Eranni?"

Eranni jumped, nearly falling from her seat. "Oh, hello Ma." She said to the approaching women. The mother of Northtower walked forward slowly, eyes on her youngest child. The women while beautiful was well past her prime, though still had a glow to her features.

The women's eyes flicked to David, and back o her daughter... then back to their guest. "Welcome David Augustine" She said, "I knew not it was you who was our dinner guest."

David scratched the back of his head. She knew his last name, but how. "A pleasure to be here." he said with a bow, "How is it that you know who I am?"

The women smiled slightly. "My family has searved this land for many years and generations, and have met many great warriors along the way." She whispered, then sighed. "And I saw you in Avaren training yards once, I simply questioned a onlooker on who you were, of course... I already knew the name Augustine."

Eranni shifted from foot to foot, hoping her Ma wasn't making the poor man uncomfortable.

David nodded as she spoke. "I see." he replied looking at the woman. He turned his head to look at Eranni. She seemed more nervous than anything he had ever seen before. "Is everything alright Eranni?"

Her mother's name flicked to her daughter, and she grinned. "Meal should be ready soon." She said, and left.

Eranni sighed. "Sorry, hope my Ma didn't make you nervous or nothing, she's just like that. My whole family is." She played with her hair, slightly wishing she had held her tongue when inviting David to come for a meal.

"I'm not that nervous." David replied, "It's just your mother knowing my name kinda surprised me." He stood there as he watched Eranni's mother leave. He stood there watching Eranni play with her hair with an expression of regret.

"Ma just knows lots of folk." Eranni whispered, trying to explain. She made a hand gesture, and led him to the dining hall.

As they entered to shouts, Eranni leaned close and whispered. "If they're too much just say so., and I'll get you out."

David nodded in reply to her. He then followed her to the dining hall. He noticed how it was full. He nodded again as Eranni spoke. He then walked over to an empty seat and sat down.

Eranni sat beside him, her cousins and siblings already crowdining into to ask David questions about himself, and where he was from. Was he a warrior of Avaren? What was his favorite weapon? Would he like to have a match later?

Eranni remained rather silent, scowling slightly at her family, hoping they wouldn't harass the man to badly. She sighed, resigning herself to a convesation about long bows with her cousin.

David was overwhelmed by the series of questions. He answered the best he could as heard replies in agreement or disagreement. Matches that he turned down ended up being accepted. He was barely able to touch his food because of everyone asking him. However, questions that envolved who he was and if he was a warrior of Avaren he left unanswered.

Eranni watched David from the corner of her eye, and finally decided she (and likely him) had endured quite enough.

"Alright, alright that's it! Enough!" She said, raising her voice as she stood. "He's not a here for inspection." She motioned for David to follow, and stepped out of the hall pretending not to hear her kin's good natured calls of disappointment.
