The road had been long and dusy, with each step putting up a small cloud of dust. The boots on his feet made a soft thud and put up a broad cloud, but the spear he held was slightly louder but didn't raise as much dust.
Protégé stopped on the road, looking up at the Entrance while the dust settled at his feet. Green eyes darted around, taking in as much as possible without moving his neck. Every time his neck moved, his blind spot changed, possibly to an advantage, but sometimes a disadvantage. But when a theif could appear at any time, it was a risk that he was not willing to take.
This was the way he was when he arrived at anywhere new, untrusting and supsicious. A new place meant new dangers, new people, and new locations. If it weren't for the fact that he can't stay at a quiet place, Protégé never would leave anywhere. However, the quiet life did not suit him, so he had to leave anywhere when new interests didn't arise.
Turning his eyes back to the area around him, Protégé walked to the wall of the entrance and leaned there, feeling a little more secure with a wall at his back. Maybe he could be like the dust and settle after a little while. However, he first had to find someone who knew their way around.

A young girl walked by him. She looked about 19, her face young and shining with life. She had fair, smooth skin and bright blue eyes. Her hair was a honey blonde and fell to her shoulders. She wore a dress made out of a light, thin, creame colored material. There were no straps holding the dress up, only a light pink chiffon like scarf wrapped around her right arm.
She smiled at him as she walked towards a midnght black horse. "Elise..." she said, her voice soft and gentle. The horse came to her. She smiled and stroked its neck gently.

Protégé turned to the sound of approaching footsteps, watching the girl walk towards the Entrance. Raising his left hand, he brushed back his brownish-blonde hair to make sure it was out of his eyes in case a problem arose. Quickly looking the girl up and down, he didn't see any obvious weapons, but still stood back to watch as she called to the horse. Obviously the horse knew her, so she probably had been here before. Deciding that it was best to not seem hostile, he walked over to her, but did not loosen his grip on the spear.
"Apparently I am no the only one who chooses to walk. Of course, I didn't have a horse, but you had the option. However, if the horse knew to come here or already was here, you have been here before, unlike me." Sticking out his hand, Protégé said,"I am Protégé, a traveler who happened to wind up on this doorstep. Who are you?"
OOC: Sorry parents are forcing me to sleep. I might be able to get on during school tomorrow. If not, I won't be on till like 6 PM EST tomorrow.

She shook his hand and turned slightly, revealing the sword at her side. "I am Ivy Valentine... a young girl looking to forget her past." she said softly. She smiled at him slightly, then looked at Elise.
She looked at him for a moment, noticing the spear. "I take it your a warrior..." she said softly, rubbing Elise's neck.

As soon as she took his hand, Protégé noticed her turning and quickly did another weapons check. There, revealed to be seen, was a sword. Moving his eyes back up to her face, he said, "Don't we all have a past to forget? But why is it when you try so hard to forget the past it is the only thing you remember? Why is it the only memory you ever forget is the one you always want to remember? Just one of those things that doesn't make sense."
Seeing her eyes shift to the spear, Protégé grasped it tighter and tensed his arm muscles. There were times when a robber had tried to disarm him and rob him, but he learned from them. An opponent rushing in to grab your weapon only made them an easier target. However, since she did not make an attempt to grab the spear, he listened to her, then said, "Aye, a spearman mainly. Unlike you, swordmaiden...or are you just carrying that for fun?"

"I am mastering the sword, dear sir..." she said softly. She seemed to have two different identitys the one that was evil and wanted revenge and this one which was sweet and caring.

Saphira had gone for a visit on the outskirts of Avaren to her acestorial home...or rather, her late ancestorial home. Her elvin home was far away. The place she had visited had been her uncles house, Siparti Manor. As she rode on Nathaniel, with Nathaniel her brother beside her, there was no converstion. Only affectionate silence. THey neared the two figures by the gate.

At her reply, he laughed. Protégé had once thought he had mastered the spear, but he quickly learned. "You can never master a weapon; you can only gain skill using it. There are always new ways to use one or a new one which is better than the old. A weapons uses are infinite, a person can only learn a small amount about how to use it. Never make the mistake of believing you know everything, even the greastest warrior alive will only know a small amount."
Picking his spear up so it was not touching the ground, Protégé pointed it toward the city, where he still knew little about. "Speaking of knowledge, how much do you know about this place. A little knowledge can go a long way in a person's life."

By now, she had arrived only a few meters away from the two. Her elvin ears easily picked up their conversation. No doubt did her brother's. She gave him a look under the hood and he rode on, coming to a standstill a little way into the entrance. SHe approached the strangers.

"Not much..." she said looking around. I've only been here for a few days and I rarely spend much time within the city itself." she said softly.
(Okay... that stunk... sorry I'm attempting to put on make-up and reply at the same time.)

By now she had rode along side the strangers. Silently listening. Rude, but she did not care. Silence was gold.

Noticing the strangers on the horses trotting up, Protégé swapped the hand in which his spear was in, but did nothing more. However, when the strangers came to stand beside them and remain silent, he said, "It seems as if more and more are joining us. Who are you?" However, he said no more. A loose tounge could reveal a weakness to the opponent while a silent one could trick them into talking. People were free to choose their own strategy, but silence was what Protégé preferred. Simple

Saphira lowered her hood but simply smiled looking at the rider in a expression of mild interest. She was still calculating.

OOC: I'm going to let Ivy reply first but I just wanted to post something. The of the posts sure have decreased since the start of this topic. It went 14-6-10-4-10-2-6-8-4-2-2-5-2. It might be different for someone else but that's what my monitor has for lines per post.
OOC2: Actually, I am just going to post.
Protégé looked from Ivy to the two riders and thought about what he knew. Ivy apparently didn't know much, and the riders weren't talking, so that wasn't helpful. He needed a guide, but if he couldn't find one, he might as well just go explore for himself. "Well, I hate to leave this interesting conversation, but daylight is wasting and I want to see the town. So, I must say my farewell here." Nodding his head first to Ivy then to the riders, Protégé took 3 steps backward and turned around, heading into the city. He didn't like the fact that he had been the first to break silence, but it was neccesary in this scenario.

Saphira smiled. She always knew she was better than anyone else. turning her horse, she rode and went into the city where Nathaniel was waiting.
