Thirst for Knowledge

[Fera Lupinus]

The sun was high in the sky and it was a gorgeous day, but Fera shrank away from it. She had instead found sanctuary in the confines of the vast library. She had to admit when she entered the building for the first time she thought she had past into the ultimate heaven. Rows upon rows of books covered walls from ceiling to floor, she could only imagine what information they held. Craving to know she slowly crossed to the closest set of volumes and ran her finger along the spine of one of the thickest books she had ever seen.

"Loo, loo, loo," Adelaide sang to herself as she walked up the staircase to the library, a leather bound book in her right hand. It was about time she returned the book and took out another for it seemed like she finished it ages ago. She didn't even think she remembered what it was about.

Adelaide entered the library and returned the book, then spent most of her time looking through the aisles of books mounted on an endless number of shelves. There were few people around and although Adelaide enjoyed the company of others, she did not like to be disturbed in the library.

She saw one girl running her finger along the encyclopedias that the library had. Adelaide had read those when she was a child. She walked over to the girl and smiled gently. "Those are interesting books." She said with a nod.

Being so caught up in the runes upon the book Fera hadn't been ready for someone to come up and speak to her, she jumped. "Oh! Ummm...yeah they do appear as if they would be quite interesting." Her gaze had returned to the books she this girl would not she the red flush creeping around her face, she did not prefer to appear jumpy; defiantly not an impression she cared to make.

When the girl jumped Adelaide jumped a little as well. She didn't want to startle the girl, so she apologized. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to take you're concentration off that book. Er...I hate when it happens to me. I'm such a hypocrite." She said rolling her eyes to herself.

She leaned against the bookcase and gave a sigh for a minute, then held the book she had in her hands to her chest. "Do you spend much time in here?" Then she noticed the girl looking back at the book. "I'm being rude I should probably just leave you to read what you've got there." She said with a nod and started walking away, but not before a book on the shelf caught her eyes. She took it down and flipped through it. "Ever read this before?" She held it up and looked at the girl.

Feeling the heat slowly leaving her face Fera turned to look back at the girl only to see her begining to walk away. Real smooth move there Fera, I wonder who else I can drive off. However as she got lost in her thoughts she barely saw that the girl had stopped and taken a book off the shelf. Looking at its unfamiliar cover Fera slowly shook her head. "No I don't believe I have. I'm new here to Avaren, just got here a few days ago actually, so I doubt I've read anything around here."
