Gil nodded his agreement before continuing, "There was this one vampire, though, typical menacing overlord kind of guy... I can't even remember his name. Well, me and a friend fought this guy tooth and nail in the common room of a tavern not too different from this one. The place got broken to bits, i'll tell you what, he had the head of the place taken hostage and it was just us two up against him. We fought hard, and in the end he escaped, luckily the girl was unharmed. That was a tough battle..." Gil shook his head as he remembered, and took another sip. At least Avean seemed to be eating up his tale.

Avean nodded, listening to him talk. She didn't care if it was the truth as long as he enjoyed himself. Her eyes glazed with intruge as he continued on.

"In the end, it was me, my friend, that Vampiress named Celeste, and the head executioner- I should tell you about him sometime, boy was he a card- who ran the evil Vampire out of town. For all the ferocity with which we had fought earlier, he left his dark castle with surprisingly little bloodshed. Pity I couldn't put a stake through his heart... he's probably still out there somewhere terrorizing humanity."
Gil sighed and shook his head, lifting his tankard again; it was almost empty. "They had these werewolves there, too, called Lycans. You may have heard of the creatures, able to take their wolf form at any time but still under a curse to transform under a full moon. They were generally more civil than the Vampires, until you entered their territory. That was one mistake that I never made, hah. I'm a terrible hand at names, but I remember their head was quite the fighter. When an army of undead invaded the Realms, he stood and fought them almost singlehandedly and fought all the way to their leader. Ho, that reminds me, I knew a priest who was a Lycan. Sounds strange, eh? You wouldn't think a clergyman would end up a magical beast, but that's how things turned out. See, he got in the way of that army of the undead trying to fight with his holy weapons- oh, he wouldn't have done much good, not much at all- but his life was in danger. So, one of the Lycan leaders, all I can remember about her is her black hair and black coat as a wolf, saved him by biting him and dragging him out of harms way. Lo and behold, the poor guy transformed. It wasn't like he even wanted it, but I didn't meet many Lycans who did want it. Sheesh, if that ever happens to me, you have my express permission to strike me dead, hah!" Gil emptied his cup and smacked his lips, his demeanor surprisingly unaffected by the strong drink. He inspected his second tankard while he tried to dredge up something more to tell. There was always more.

Avean leaned her head on her hand, flipping her hair over her shoulder enchantingly. Her eyes were wide and intregued when he had finished talking. "My life is filled with bordum and memories..." she grumbled, still smiling as she took another sip from her glass and winced as the liquid burned her throat as it went down. Avean ignored it and laid back, tilting on two legs. She grinned angellically and with a 'thud', landed back down, looking at him.

ooc: Now why does that particular storyline sound familiar, Gil? bic: Taking a bite out of the apple she had quickly grabbed for her lunch, Hayzie Roberts ducked out of the back area of the tavern. It was pretty quiet given the time of day, though the place still looked a shambles. Shaking her head, the red headed girl left Sheena behind the bar and began collecting up glasses and plates and wiping down tables ready for the rush hours that were also known as evening. Listening in on a tale that was being told not too far away from where a crowded table was being cleaned, Hayzie shivered a little at the story. It was one she knew... Shaking her head and walking over to he table the two sat at, the barlass smiled cheerily. "Can I get you any more drinks at all?" she asked, placing the empty glasses into the already tall tower of breakables she was carrying. Anyone who knew her well would know that the chances of all of them getting to the kitchen in one piece was slim.

ooc: bic: "No, thank you Miss, I've had enough liquor it should be spilling out my ears about now." replied the thief, winking slyly at Avean. "Please, let me help you with that." he said, standing up and placing one more tankard on top of the precarious stack with a roguish grin. A quick glance outside told Gil it was getting quite late, though the tiredness never really settled in until he hit the sheets. After you had walked so many nights without stopping to rest, your body adjusted. He really should get to bed though, and let his bones mend. "I would ask you, though, if you have any rooms available." he said over his shoulder to the barmaid tweaking a curtain aside. "Then again the Inn across the way looks mighty cozy, I may just retire there." Making a game of it, barely restraining himself from grinning widely, Gil slowly walked toward the door while watching Hayzie out of the corner of one eye. If this Tavern had rooms, he had a feeling she would be begging him to stay.

Avean walked up to the door as he looked back. "You can stay with me and I won't take no for an answer, least I can do after your company..." she said, tilting her head as if bowing. Avean then looked up at him, her eyes wide and almost puppy dog like.

Looking quickly from the Tavern owner to Avean, Gil posed in a stance of mock thought. "Hmmmmmm." he mused, a smile slowly appearing. In a moment he reached out and tweaked Avean's nose, winking and saying slyly, "Oh and I suppose you've got a mansion up in the rich part of the Housing District, eh Miss Luxenbourg?"

"Why yes, I do...is it that obvious." she said sneering, her nose wrinkling slightly. Avean mockingly tweaked his nose in return, a grin growing on her lips in almost a sarcastic way.

Hayzie accepted the help grateful, and nodded her head for him to follow her to the kitchens. At the question about rooms, the redhead nodded. "Rooms? Yes we have rooms... best rooms in the Kingdom, in fact." After placing the glasses and plates into a sink and directing the male to do the same, she turned and smiled.
"How long are you planning on staying for, Sir?" Though just as she asked, the female he was keeping company offered him a place to stay. Damn, she really had to learn to advertise a little better...

Gil blinked, off-put for the few seconds that his brain registered Avean's words. Well of course she was from a rich family, it was evident from her dress... and her bearing... and her physique... again, Gil thought wonderingly why a woman like her would associate with a rough looking man like him. He only lifted one eyebrow as she tweaked his nose right back, causing his facade of seriousness to break down once more into a smile.
"Some other time, perhaps." he said, and at first it looked unsure as to who he was addressing, but only until he turned to look at Hayzie and nod his head. "I'll probably end up back here more often than I would like." flipping a nonchalant wave to her, he made his way to the door and pushed it open, the wind throwing his overcoat billowing. "Shall we be going, my Lady?" he said, folding himself nearly to the ground in a deep bow, before coming up slightly and looking into her eyes.

Avean chuckled. "We shall..." she said, nodding her head as though bowing to him. Avean walked out of the door, looking back at him and winked.

Gil followed shortly after. 'Quite a mysterious woman...' he thought, shutting the door behind him and giving a nonchalant shrug to Hayzie as it closed.

"It's this way.." she said, heading towards her home and ignoring what he had said. Avean ambled towards the district, turning back to wave towards her. "Come on slow one..." she said, turning back and leading the way. Avean's dress flowed slightly behind her, much unlike her long chesnut hair in which was steadily following behind her. She ran her hand through it and went on her way.
