Avean had been laying in the grass watching the stars for about an hour before she began to dozz off. Her eyes slipped closed and her body grew limp. "Hm..." she mumbld, laying on her side, the stars shining brightly.

The walls stretched long into the night time shadowy distance. Perched balanced on the edge sat a slim frame, silhoetted against the star and moonlight, spilling across the heavens. Something glittered in the girls hand. A slim, long silver flute. As she started to play, quick floating notes, you would have nver known it was the same girl who murdered. The same girl who changed. The music had a certain melancholy quality, echoing a eerie archane magical substance. The graceful notes swirled through the air, brilliant in its own light.

Emma looked into the moonlight as she followed the winding walls of the city. She loved the night sky so much that she would give up almost anything. Emma was so hypnotized by the sky that she did not see the asleep girl. Emma kept walking and suddenly she could not see the sky, all she could see was grass. Emma had tripped. She turned around to see what it was that had tripped her. It was a hand which, Emma saw was attached to a now awake girl.

Kaldaka prowled the outer walls, feeling the peace that the stars always gave her. She smiled up at Earendil, the North Star, her mother and father's favorite of all the stars in the sky. 'Hello Mother,' she whispered softly. 'Hello father.' Hearing the soft music of a flute, she paused and listened, waiting until it had ended. Then, pulling out a small wooden stick, she cupped it in her hand for a moment before placing it in front of her mouth. A small wooden flute, it was satiny smooth and could be held almost anywhere. She blew a few notes and then started a tune, a fast one that whirled along the battlements of the walls, a certain vibration about it that most music did not attain.

Saphira heard the sound of the instrument floating with harmony against her own melody in the night breeze. Smiling very slightly, she kept of playing, up the highest octaves in a race of clear, crystal notes.

Avean's eyes fluttered open, looking from one to the other. "Um...Hello."

"I'm so sorry" Emma said with a truly sorry look on her face. She always ended up in a terrible mess when she was daydreaming. How could she have tripped over someone? But Emma did have an exuse for being hypnotised like that. Back where she came from there was no sky at all to see. This was because the sky was fogged up by the pollution. Emma hoped that the kingddom of Avaren would never be like that as she got up from the ground.

Avean smirked and shook her head "It's fine...I'm use to being stepped on due to my large family in which stays in a two bedroom house, we all get stepped on." she said with a chuckle.

Emma smiled and said "Thanks for not getting angry" she held out her hand to help the girl up. Then Emma heard music. "Do you hear that music? It sounds like flutes."

Avean nodded and took her hand. "I have been listening to it for a while now.." she commented, standing up straight.

Saphira did not stop, entranced by the perfect cadences produced by the flutes combined. Her slinder fingers flew over the flute in her hands as she sat, cross legged against the bright moon.

Emma smiled at the girl and then she said "bye, then". She started to walk away, humming the music that filled her ears. She had come some way when she noticed it was becoming darker. Emma turned to head to her home and, still humming, looked up into the beautiful night sky.

Suddenly, she recognised the figure. The clear notes faltered and stopped abruptly. She came to land on her feet, staring rather uncertainly. Should she.... "Hello...Avean."

Suddenly the music stopped. She looked back when she heard someone speak. Emma turned and walked towards the voice. When she had far enough she looked into the darkness to see... Saphira? "Saphira?" Emma asked "Is that you? What are doing? I never knew you played the fute!"
