It was early morning; just the time of the morning where the mist was begining to rise off the fields and the frost began to glitter upon the grass. It was the perfect day for a ride in the morning, even though it was begining to get quite cold. Winter was soon to be upon Avaren, she could feel it. The first snow wasn't too far off. Thankfully, she had just gotten a new winter cloak made of some sort of animal skin- though she didn't know what it was made of, it had a soft texture and was warm. The scarf that she had wrapped around her neck was warm as well, for she had knitted it with her very own hands from wool that came from one of the neighbor's sheep.
"Whoa there.." She said under her breath, pulling back the reins upon the relatively calm black mare. "Careful. Shh. We don't want to be waking everybody up." The horse merely snorted in response. It could care less if they woke up the stable boy when they returned. But Malina didn't want to be hasseled by the keeper for taking out a horse too early. She'd been scolded by him before and had no desire to have it happen again. The man thought her to be nothing more than a mere child rather than a young girl of eighteen years.
"Hello?" She whispered, dismounting and carefully taking the reins in her hands. "Is anyone in there?" There were noises coming from inside; voices, but she couldn't tell who it was. Not wanting to disturb anything, she timidly tapped on the door and then glanced around, hoping that whoever was inside would be kind enough to open the door for her.
It had been rather stupid of her to forget the key...

Alamea had entered the stables that morning intending on going on a ride with Evaline, her mose prized possesion. The horse was a beautiful chesnut mare that was the best thing the apprentice mage owned. When she was bored or stessed from mage word, the girl loved to come and ride her through the farmlands and take a break from it all. So that morning she put on the clothes she reserved for riding and walked out to the stable. When she got there a look of joy spread across her face as her blue eyes saw Evaline standing impatiently in her stall. Their family had enough money thankfully for her to stable her horse here.
While she was placing a saddle on the mare, her ears caught a small tapping on the door to the stable and a quiet voice outside. Putting her current task away she strode over to the door, wondering who was there. With a creak the wooden door opened to reveal a girl and her horse. Alamea grinned and opened the door wider so that they could come in. "Locked out? Dont worry, it happens to the best of us." The girl said with a chuckle, motioning that Malina could go inside. The morning was chilly, and she didnt want her to be outside any longer than they had to be.
Brushing her hair out of her eyes, she saw the horse that Malina lead. She was beautiful, black horses always caught the eye of the apprentice mage. Evaline was nothing compared to this. "Your horse is beautiful miss." Alamea said quietly, her voice now showing with mist. Realizing she had a look of wonder on her face she shook it off and smiled. "Sorry, Im Alamea, pleasure to meet you miss."

She considered herself fortunate to be found so soon; as well as suprised that there was even anyone inside the stables so early. The morning hours only appealed to her so much because she lacked the time to go riding upon any other hour of the day. Her training simply didn't permit it, but she didn't mind too much. After all, there was a price to pay if you truely wished to be the best. And oh, how she wanted to be the best. She wanted the glory and the wisdom that came from knowing that no one could match you in skill or in talent. And, of course, she was willing to work hard enough to achieve everything that she dreamed of.
"Thank you." She said with a chuckle, her brown eyes sweeping over the younger girl. "I usually remember to bring the key, but I was just too tired this morning. "
Carefully, she guided the black mare back inside the stables- she had barely even noticed Alamea staring at it. Her little ride had woken her up quite a bit, but not enough for her to really be fully aware of everything going on around her. She hardly even realized that the girl was still there until she spoke, complimenting her horse.
"Oh..." She replied, turning around to address the girl while she made her way over to fetch some hay for the horse. "She isn't mine. I just borrow her in the mornings, usually, before her owners decide to take her out. I guess I'm lucky, since they never really tend to notice that she's gone. And my name's Malina; lovely to meet you as well."

The apprentice mage let the door swing shut as Maline brought her horse in, glad to keep the cold out. With a smile she returned to Evaline who's stall was quite nearby to the horse the other girl led. Taking back up the saddle, she continued to speak. "Malina...thats a pretty name..." She said cheerfully, stroking Evaline gently. Horses were wonderful, and she wondered why she didnt become a knight so that she could ride a horse all of the time. Chuckling at Malina's comment, Alamea turned back to her.
"I guess Im lucky, I own my horse, Evaline. She was a gift when I became an apprentice mage...oh dear, Im rambling, Im sorry, sometimes my mouth gets away from....me...." The girl got quiet at the end and blushed at her losing control of her voice. This happened often, she just liked to speak so much. "So..." she began calmly. "..What brings you out here this early in the morning, no time to ride otherwise?" Alamea said with a grin, returning to her task.
In truth that was why she herself was out here, and suspected it of Malina. No one in their right mind would do so otherwise. The mornings were cold and dark, so not great for riding.

The bale of hay spilled out of her arms as she dragged it back to the black mare's stall and deposited it inside the bin. Naturally, the horse was all too happy to quickly begin to eat it and completely forget that Malina was even standing there. This intense drive for food only made the girl smile as she picked up a brush that was in the stall and began to comb the burrs out of her mane.
"Ah, a gift? That's terribly lucky." She replied with a small smile, peering over the small wall that separated them. "I don't think I could afford a horse, but I don't mind that much. The only reason I ride in the morning is because I don't have much time during the rest of the day... so I suppose this is the only chance I get. How about you?"
OOC: Sorry it's so short. ^^ Kinda lacking inspiration.

OOC: Its no problem, its a good post.
BIC: Smiling at Malina, Alamea leaned against the stall and watched the girl care for the horse. It was nice to have an animal friend, they couldnt talk back and they were wonderful to be with. The apprentice was ready to go out on her ride, but for now she would wait. It was nice to talk to someone other than an apprentice at the academy. Those people were either extremely annoying to be around, or just left her be. She had only met a couple that she actually enjoyed being around. Returning her mind to what Malina said, she smiled.
"Yes, I guess I am lucky to have gotten Evaline as a gift. My parents were just so overjoyed at my...magical ability...They raised the money to buy her, and now support her too." The girl said with wonder in her voice as she remembered walking into the stables at her farm and seeing the brown mare standing there, all hers. "My studies at the Academy keep me so hassled that I almost never get to ride, only in the early morning. Which isnt good in a way, I like the world during daytime. Not when it is shrouded in darkness."
Some disdain filled her voice too. In a way she despised her training, even though she knew she could become powerful one day if she trained hard enough. It was just so much work, and right now she wasnt doing great at it. Alamea so wanted to ride more than do magic in a stuffy old school.

A yawn engulfed the young warrior's throat as she continued to groom the horse, who, in turn, continued to be completely oblivious. Meanwhile, she took in the girl's every word. She had met many mages, though never particuarly taken to socializing with any of them. They all seemed to arrogant, as though the art of magic was more important that the art of the blade. Hence this lead her to dislike them almost as much as she disliked her fellow warriors. But this girl seemed nice; so why scorn her?
"I don't really mind the darkness." She replied with a shrug. "I'd much rather go riding during the day, but I guess I just don't have time. Maybe, once I'm done with my training, I'll have more time to do what I please."
The black mare snorted a few times, expressing discontent at the fact that Malina had zoned out and begun to brush a bit too hard. Grinning, she appeased the beast by feeding her a slice of carrot that she had in her dress pocket.
"So... where are you from?" She inquired, hoping that she wasn't getting too nosy.

Alamea stifled a laugh as she saw the horses protests against Malina's hard brushing. Minds wandered so easily, and led to some of the funniest things. With a grin she looked at Evaline and thought that maybe the horse could also use a brushing. Not that it would do any good, they were going out riding. But it would make the mare happy and pass the time. So picking up a brush, the mage set to also brushing her horse carefully. While she did so, the girl began to hum a small tune she learned in the village to help remember spells. The words were horrid, the tune was beautiful. But Malina's questions threw her back into focus.
"Oh, I grew up on a farm south of here. I lived there for about 14 years with 5 brothers and 2 sisters. It was nice, much better than the Academy, but I cant learn magic on a farm. But I still miss it." The girl's voice trailed off and her brushing stopped for a moment to wipe a tear from her eye. Continueing for a second in a whisper, she repeated the last part."...still miss it...."
Turning her gaze back to the militia her hands slowly began their task. "And you Miss Malina? What lands do you hail from?"

Saphira had been late and was tired of pouring over the dusty library. (ooc: dont mind if I interrupt? ) After a quick effortless grooming of Nathaniel-she used a spell instead, she led him out from a corner stall. Usually, she rode him out to the outskirts of the city, and into the mountain ranges where she then took flight with... Her thoughts were interrupted as something blue streaked in front of her face. Cursing with her usual paranoia, she immediately, out of instint, threw up a ward around her person. The something let off huge noise, and disappeared into a cloud of haydust.
