Time to Socialize

[Persephone DeVone]

Persephone was quiet by nature. Her shyness seemed to protect her more than cause her problems, and rarely did she end up in situations that she didn't want to be. Maybe that was because so many people called her the Ice Maiden.

It wasn't that she wasn't very approachable, but because Persephone seemed so ...happy to be alone. She never really needed anyone, and the people she did need were now laying in the ground or so far from her that mere letters kept a bond strong.

But Persephone saw the importance to talking to people. She would feel more comfortable if she knew someone, anyone, else in the town. So far she had only met Justin, and although kind as he had been, he wasn't around all the time.

So the five foot apprentice stood dazed and confused by people walking around her. Her deep emerald eyes looked innocent and sincere, and she seemed lost in the maze of people. Every time she turned her long silvery hair swirled around her fragile frame.

Finally she sat down, and looked at the mass of people. She wondered if she would be brave enough to talk to someone or if they would come talk to her. She would prefer the latter, but if it came down to it, the first would do.

[Kalim]

Kalim wandered almost at random around the city square, it always reminded him of growing up to be in these crowds, the sheer size of which generally made him feel small and insignificant. He had only recently received a severe reprimanding back at the academy, yet it was clearly his fault! By 'magically protected' he had logically assumed that the strangely rune-covered book would also be immune to a bit of flame. Blame from the ensuing chaos that resulted obviously should not have been pinned on him! If only they would see it that way back up there.

So engrossed in his own thoughts, he barely paid any mind as he walked straight into someone, winding up flat on his rear. Standing up hurriedly, he got a brief glimpse of emerald eyes before his gaze fell down to himself whilst he frantically brushed dirt and dust from his now-dirtied robes. "I'm so very sorry....wasn't paying attention......not intentional..." he sputtered out at random by way of hurried apology.

Fera was bored out of her mind so much so that she was actually driven to the city square; despite her dislike of crowded areas. However where there was a crowd there was something or at least someone interesting to study and observe. Sure enough as she moved her narrow brown eyes over the crowd she came across two mages much like herself and one seemed to have run into the other. Quite amusing I must say she thought quietly to herself though silently scolding her mind for finding it funny.

"It's ok...are you...alright?"

Persephone asked tentatively hoping the boy that had run into her wasn't hurt when he fell. She wouldn't have been very happy if he was, and she would have blamed it all on herself. It was she after all who hadn't been paying attention, and should have.

She looked curiously at the boy though. He seemed to be a mage quite like herself, and he had been, by the look of it, lost in his thoughts as well. But just while she was observing the boy who had run into her, she noticed someone else get closer. She wondered who that was.

Fera's eyes widened as she realized that the girl had noticed she was standing there. Aiming to walk away she felt that she had a grin plastered upon her face, still amused at the boys tumble. As her features flushed red with embarrassment she took a step forward instead of backward.

She opened her mouth to apologize yet snapped it shut again for they would probably not even know what she was sorry for and that would just make her feel stupid. So, she just stood there like a common idiot not quite sure what to do.

[Kalim]

"No....not hurt....just fine, thanks for asking, I'll just be....I'm going to...." he continued to sputter nonsense for a few moments until quite conveniently another girl decided to drop in on the pair of them, giving him a spare moment of time to regain his composure.

Clearing his throat to make sure he was not forgotten, he introduced himself rather louder than was probably necessary, "My name is Kalim, and I happen to be a mage-in-training up at the academy, now only at the lowly status of apprentice. What names might the both of you lovely ladies go by?" he said, hoping to at least show some sort of courtesy by this point, now that he was back to his cheerful self before he had taken his little spill.

Fera breathed an inner sigh of relief when the boy, who called himself Kalim, had spoken up taking what she felt was the heat off of her. Well might as well give them your name, she thought boldy. So pushing aside a strand of her dark violet hair she spoke up in clear voice. "I am Fera, Fera Lupinus. It is a pleasure to meet you."

"Pleasure to meet you Fera and Kalim, I'm Persephone, or as most people call me, Sephe."

She looked at Kalim. He had said he was an apprentice too, which means she would be going to the Academy with him. At least this way she would know at least one other person that went there. She wouldn't feel so alone.

"Do you two both go to the Academy? I was just sent there as an apprentice."

[Fera Lupinus]

Fera nodded her head slowly in agreement with Persephone. "I just started at the academy as well so, naturally I am also just an apprentice." However as soon as it left her mouth she thought that it wouldn't be so for much longer; she grinned at this thought.

[Persephone DeVone]

"Great. I guess we'll all see each other there then. It's nice knowing people from the Academy already."

Persephone smiled and the light in her eyes grew. She was a competitive girl, and she had a feeling that in classes she'd be one of the people to push herself just for the sake of doing so. She didn't want to be left in the dust, and she didn't like to fail.

Still, it would be nice to be able to have people she knew there. She'd be more comfortable and a lot more willing to ask for help if she'd ever need it. It'd be a lot easier on everyone that way, and there'd be a lot less chaos.

*Selena walked into the square for the second time since moving here and a bit of long blond hair caught her eye. She saw Persephone. She had met her in the library. She felt relief as she saw someone she had at least met. She walked over to say hi.* "Hi, Persephone. Tis a lovely day. How are you?"

Fera's grin widened as she laughed happily. "I must agree with you there, though I have done fine on my own before knowing someone can make it a lot easier." However she stopped there for before she could continue another voice hopped on in.

As she spun her head to see the newcomer a strand of her violet hair fell out from its hold. Agitated she brushed it out of her eyes as she looked at the girl who had addressed Persephone.

"Hey Selena. So are you going to join us three at the Academy then?"

Persephone had met the other girl the day before, and she had seemed nice enough. It was great to see her walking around and talking, and even better to know that she had sought her out as a friend.

*Selena walked up more shyly hoping she wasnt intruding* "I intend to join. I have just signed up. I saw a lot of mage's with powers. They were practicing and I dont know how to control my magic yet. It made me nervous. Do you think i will fit in?" *She smiled at the other girl there. She had beautiful violet hair. Selena became envious. She loved her hair but it was dull.* "Hullo, my name is Selena." *She did a little curtsy to be as proper as she could.*

"Don't worry you'll do fine! A lot of mages are a little rusty, or were never taught how to control any magic before they came, so it'll all be ok."

She smiled again, hoping that Selena would understand that Persephone was in the same predicament wtih her. Sephe had only been able to do certain things with her mage ablities, and although strong, she lacked discipline in them.
