Ugh, a tournament. Why in the hell had he gone and entered a tournament? Kalim pondered this to himself as he stood upon the packed dirt floor of the arena. Fighting, in his opinion, clearly just wasn’t his ’thing’, yet when he had heard about signing up for this tournament, he found himself soon after adding his name to the list of contestants, possessed by some ill will or another that wished him to make a public mockery of himself.
Shaking himself from his someone negative thoughts regarding his current predicament, Kalim gazed across the arena to look upon his opponent. His opponent. Why ever he should ever desire anyone whom he could legitimately call and ‘opponent’ escaped all his current comprehension, yet it was far to late for second thoughts now.
Hoping his adversary- another unpleasant word to have about someone- was not paying much heed as of yet, Kalim began focusing his powers, staff clenched tightly in his hands as he prepared for his spell casting while warily watching his opponent at the same time.

Adrienne stood calm and relaxed although she didn't like to fight much she always loved to challange herself and her abilities. Adirenne gazed across the arean and observed her opponent. It was a male mage 'this should be interesting he seems to be an apprentice like me'. She warily watched him noticing the staff he held in his hand. She then shifted through the spells she knew and wondered silently which she should use first. She knew she should hurrry up and pick one so she settled on a simple spell she'd learned thanks to a practice session she had taken with a scholar. She concentrated wil keeping an eye on her opponent but didn't say anything because she wanted to see what kind of magic he knew and how much power he had.

Kalim had to fight a girl. Why did it have to be a girl? Ghah, moral code or not, a tournament was a tournament, meaning she wanted to beat him just as he wished to beat her; might as well be done with this and not let his conscience influence him too much.
Kalim took a few slow strides towards her, staff still clenched in his hands, not letting himself lose his focus before they had even come to blows. Kalim, taking a wild guess, assumed his opponent to be a mage, for they didn't have either the look nor the proper equipment that would be associated with a warrior, although as always looks could be deceiving.
Close to his opponent now, Kalim felt he might as well try a bit at the art of conversation, "My name, in case you didn't pay attention to the tournament match-ups, is Kalim. I admit that I am guilty of what I just basically accused you of, and would like to know my opponents name before we begin."

"Ahhhh, that's wonderful," Kalim replied cheerily, having advanced to within a few short strides away from Adrienne by now, pondering at his options in this current fight. Well, he could always go for spell casting, although he was still an apprentice and anyone at that level would be unable to do anything big or spectacular in a tournament. After all, it was impossible for them to have developed their powers very far at that level.
"If it is not to much to ask, I would like to also know about where you stand in your training as a mage, if it's not to much to know at this point in time." As he spoke, he took those few short strides to close in to where his opponent was standing, in the perfect range of his staff. If you weren’t good at spell casting, you might as well use any other weapon that's available to you.
Swinging his staff in both hands, he aimed his next blow just as he had in his only other 'fight' so to speak with the incompetent who called himself Justin; the head. It was such a basic move, yet so very effective should it connect.

Because it has been some time since Kalim has posted without Adrienne posting, I declare Kalim the victor!
