Rith was frustrated, utterly confused, on the surface everything appeared to be sailing smoothly in Avaren. Though apparently there were many great struggles occurring, it felt like a good joke everyone had been in on except him, on the outside looking in to a place with its lights off.
"Am I doomed to never know!? To not be able to help!?" Rith exclaimed, a ringing echo following behind. Though what Rith had neglected to notice was that he was indeed in the City Square before he released his plea for comprehension. Commoners looked upon him like he was a madman before averting their gaze and walking by him like he had the plague.
"Oh, what is the use...?" Rith sighed embarrassed, his head hanging down with a lurched over posture. He sloshed ahead until he reached a fountain, sitting himself down on a bench near it and beginning to contemplate his lot in all this.

Solid heels clicked against the fountain in repetition as a woman made her way around it's thin edge with a keen eye for balance. She wore a wide smirk on her rusty-painted lips, and many layers of black and a khaki brown, all in the form of coats or cloaks, quite thin as not to keep her too hot, or too cold, but well-covered.
Around her neck was a skull, fitted expertly with string through it's temples and some animal's teeth adorning it's sides, along with the occasional gold bauble for show. As the woman purposefully missed her footing on the fountain, she came to sit with an unexpected style on it's edge. With a painted black nail she tipped up the brim of her rugged hat slightly to reveal a copper-golden eye, fixated on the young man with a look that could chill anyone to the bone.
What did she want?
"What's a young man like you doing makin' a racket like that?" She spelt out in a husky tone. Her lashes came together to glare at him somewhat mysteriously. She was still smirking as if she had some hidden agenda, but she would wait to hear his voice again before she would exchange her's once more.

"I do not know, in a way that is my problem." Rith replied shifting himself around to a better look at the person speaking to him. He examined her shortly, his brow momentarily arching when he spied the animal teeth on her necklace, but he didn't mind it much. "Good thing she came along." he considered, at the very least she could help take his mind of his anxieties for a little while.

The woman held a cunning look for a moment, stroking her chin like a millionare might in thought. Concluding her thoughts she lifted herself off the fountain and walked with purpose over to him. Seating herself beside him on the bench she narrowed her gaze, lowered her hat slightly, and let her smirk fade to just a small kink at the corner of her lips.
Intricate markings of black and deep maroon were tattooed over her features, making her just that little but more unreadable. Once she was sure she had his attention, she jerked her head to the side, cracking her neck, before hissing quickly: "I bet I could solve your problem." She shifted her smirk to the other side.
"Tell me it."

He shifted some of his auburn hair from his eyes with his hand which ran all the way over his head and rested at the back of his neck. As he looked back to this person who was taking time to try and help him out, a situation where he was usually at the opposite end of.
Rith sighed again, his eyes returning to the spot of ground between his traveling boots. "Have you ever had the feeling there was something epic happening around you, but had no idea that it even existed?" He asked to her, recounting recent events with Avean, Alezand, Marim his brows periodically twitching as he thought.

Trixice frowned as he spoke, poking holes in her memory to try and probe nostalgia to give her a reason to nod and agree. Deciding she had experienced this feeling, she moved her chin up and down slowly, keeping her gaze set on him hard. When he turned away to stare at the ground she shifted her gaze out to the gentle spray of the fountain.
"I would like to say your instincts are correct." She murmered quietly, tapping those painted black nails on her knee. "But tell me," She swivelled her copper-gold eye back on him and the collection of teeth on her necklace rattled melodically as she turned to face him. "Is it that you want to play hero in this epic tale around you that makes you so burdened by it?" She stopped there, thinking that that was quite enough to have him think about for the time being.

"Maybe on a some level..." Rith replied thinking, unable to help laughing a bit at the image of him triumphantly standing tall over some defeated evil incarnate in the token Shining Armor. "Really, it's not so much the fact that I want to play 'Hero', but more like I feel I have to help. You see, ever since my Father died, I swore I would dedicate myself to maintain the balance of our planet. I guess I just feel powerless and unneeded in not knowing." He added, the flow of ill-ideas seemingly to spill from his mouth like the endless waters of a waterfall, which was reminiscent of the proverbial double-edged sword. For on one hand the water was indeed flowing helping to cause life all around and his troubles were off his chest. Though on the other hand, the rocks at the base of the falls eroded into natural lances surely to kill anything who went down it and he felt all the more useless in admitting this.

Trixice listened carefully, it was not every day she had a stranger spill his story to her. Who was she kidding, yes it was, save for fridays, that was her day off as far as she was concerned. She leaned forward a moment and rumaged around under the material of her apparel, finally clasping slim, gloved fingers around the hilt of a small dagger.
She pulled it free of her boot and rest it against the inside of the glove of her other hand, grinding it's edge quietly with the rough-filelike texture under the finger-parts of the glove. She was sharpening it. "I see." She said, with understanding.
"Why do you not swallow this position you feel you must live up to, and instead handle with impeccable bravery whatever this epic tale throws at you?" She asked almost softly, her curved brows moving in concentration as she tilted the blade slightly, manouvering it's edge so it's untouchable side sharpened in a fine curve.

"That would be where the real problem comes in. I love my task, as daunting as it is, but whatever or wherever this epic struggle is I don't have one clue." Rith stated scanning his memory for any type of clue that'd lead him to what he was looking for. At any rate, just having someone hear him out was doing wonders for him. His eyes raised off of the ground and he looked back to meet her metallic eyes.

The woman nodded as he spoke, confirming that she was listening. She continued to sharpen the blade skillfully, eventually stopping to test it's point with the tip of her bare finger. She withdrew her finger quickly and smiled a smile that told anyone watching her she was satisfied with it's deadly edge. Now, her smile disappeared and she turned to him with a small frown.
"How can you have a task when you don't even know what it applies to, or where?" She asked, a tone of bewilderment clearly in her voice. She was quite used to producing riddles from nothing herself, but this young man seemed in quite a mess with himself, and she was beginning to feel it too.
To say the least, it confused her.

"Instincts, I can just feel it." Rith replied, he always found himself having very keen instincts, prerhaps that was because he always followed them. " All around me I just have this feeling that something terrible is happening, and I fear for the safety of this Kingdom and everyone in it." he added watching her grow gradually more bewildered by him. "I'm sorry if all this is making you feel uncomfortable." Rith apologised, figuring that hearing of his problems can be just as confusing as experiencing his problems.

Trixice smirked as he apologised, and her hand came up to wave it off in the air. She began to twirl, slowly, the hilt of the dagger, letting it's sharp edge catch the light in the occasional flash of metal. "I am not uncomfortable." She said, reassuring him. His ordeal with obvious emotions amused her greatly, and she flicked the dyed-purple feather hanging from the brim of her hat over it's top to keep it away from her face for the moment.
Then, she spoke again. "I believe you worry too much. If you know you must complete this task, you must first learn to control your emotions and turn off to your instincts." She paused, letting this sink in. "Of course we all have instincts, and they will always rear their head at us when we least expect it. You must begin to live life, instead of adding years to it by worrying about when the kingdom may come face-to-face with some great ordeal." She explained, swivelling her copper eye to watch him.
"When you are ready to enter this battle, it will open it's doors to you. Until then, do not go searching for it." She finished, letting a small smile cast a reflection on her unusually wise lips.

"You make a strong point, that is to be sure. My instincts are telling me of impending doom, but I am certain there are forces rallying against it. If my assistance is needed then I will be sought out and I will be ready to do so." Rith replied, the look on his face gradually returning to his normal joyful, carefree appearance. He sighed contently like a monstrous weight was removed from his shoulders. " I thank you, you are quite wise Miss..." He said coming to realise that he had since been talking to a total stranger. Laughing softly, a bit embarrassed, he extended his hand out to her. "In all my inner turmoil I had forgotten my manners, I am Rith Matou. A pleasure to officially meet you." he said flashing her a friendly smile.

Saphira sat by the fountain, alone and contemplating. SHe heard the conversations around her, saw every detail and spotted djinns and imps darting here and there. Summoners obviously. SHe looked around her in content. Thinking.

As he thanked her, she merely brushed that off too with a small smile, focusing her copper irises on the dagger spinning at a casual pace between her fingertips. His laugh echoed embarrassment, and to this she raised her chin to look at him, jerking her head to toss the fringe of black cropped hair from her features.
Just as she looked up, he flashed her a willing smile, and she moved the hilt of the dagger into her left palm, tightening her grip on it as her right hand extended to catch his in the shake he offered. Using the momentum of the handshake to impact her words, she smirked that delicate smirk that was only hers.
"Rith Matou, your ability to trust is admirable." She said in her husky whisper, before retracting her hand from his rather swiftly and dropping the dagger into a thin pouch on the inside of her boot. By a short glance ahead, Trixice saw the mage she had met on many occasions, but she dismissed this quickly, and returned her unreadable gaze to Rith, knowing full-well he wanted her name.
"Oh, and for the record," She said as she stood, facing him but beginning to back away; that smirk still settled mysteriously on her lips. "...the pleasure is all mine." She then winked her golden eye and in a flicker of a movement, the brim of her hat was pulled down, her cloak billowed around as she turned, and the rattle of bones on her necklace clicked together as she broke into a run, disappearing in less than a minute down another street of the city square.
That was it. She was gone. Nameless.
