Kaldaka was standing in the small room that she used to check all of her weapons. As she waited, she decided to check them one more time. Twin rapiers, yes, boot dagger, yes, two throwing knives, yes, belt dagger, yes, sleeve daggers, yes, and her long, metal-covered staff was there as well. She herself was dressed in a simple outfit- pants and a shirt, with a chainmail and leather vest covering that. A black cloak covered all of that, and she had stiff leather gloves cut off at the knuckles for easy manuevering.
Finally it was time. She could hear the crowd, and the clocok on the wall told her it was time to begin the match. Slowly she stood up and walked out, feeling slightly nervous despite the fact that she knew she could only do her best. As shse stood for a moment, blinking her eyes and accustoming herself to the sunlight after the darkish room, she drew on of her rapiers and saluted the crowd, hearing the roar of approval as she sheathed it again.
Facing the direction her opponent would come from, she loosened up some and then gripped her staff tighter. It was a favorite weapon of hers against longswords, the weapon that Gilsworthy would most likely be using, so she wanted to be ready. If he didn't use his longsword, she always had her twin rapiers. Gripping it tighter as he came out, she saluted him with it and then waited. The crowd's roar seemed to be suddenly muted as she faced him. It was him and her in this fight- the crowd was nothing. And she waited.

There was one thing very different about Gilsworthy as he stood impassive there in the arena. He was leaning heavily on a long wooden crutch, his right foot held slightly off the ground and his whole frame tilted slightly in that direction. He shifted, the saber sheathed on a belt hanging loose at the back of his coat clanking softly against it. What a hindrance, and right before this big match, too. Would he be able to pull this off?
Lifting the crutch he moved a pace forward, swallowing hard as the foot in question bobbed up and down. This was going to be impossible. His eyes still defiant, Gil looked straight into Kaldaka's eyes, veritably unarmed, and smiled. "My lady," he said, gesturing with his free hand, "I apologize for my appearance, but I had a minor accident prior to our match. I assure you I can still fight, though, so if you wish we can begin." His free hand moved behind him, but the handle of his blade was inconveniently just out of reach. The thief stretched, and the crutch moved slightly, jostling the foot which caused him to wince. He moved again, more carefully, and got a grip on his saber. Turning back to Kaldaka, he acquiesced to let her make the first move, and perhaps end the match quickly before he made a fool of himself.

Kaldaka watched Gilsworthy approach in interest. This was going to be rather interesting. Hopefully she would be able to disarm him quickly, although since it appeared he was training to be assassin like her, he would undoubtedly have other weapons, and assassins weren't easily tossed aside. Weighing her chances, she decided that they were fairly good. But not good enough to get cock-sure about it, she reminded herself as she tossed the staff aside and drew her twin rapiers.
Moving forward with the speed of lightning one of her rapiers flashed out in a slash straight towards Gil's rapier, while the other one flashed towards his wrist with it's flat as hard as she could. Hopefully he wouldn't be able to avoid her blow to his wrist, and the weight of her rapier against his saber and the blow would be enough to disarm him. But you never knew.

I had requested that change be made to Kaldaka's post, and since the required changes were not made within 2 days, I declare Gilsworthy the winner!
