"Hear something?" Kalim said, his eyes wide quite abruptly. No, he in truth hadn't heard anything yet in his paranoia he couldn't help but stop and listen intently, "What did you hear? What did it sound like?" He felt like a complete idiot standing here in the silence and near dark of a cavern, not wanting to really admit his fear yet not wanting to do something really really stupid out of pride.
After several moments pause, he felt his face flush slightly. He heard nothing, except save a soft flutter here or there of bats or a steady dripping from some deep corner of the caverns. What else would one expect from a cave? "I find it highly amusing you feel the need to make fun of my perfectly rational fear of this place. Well, not fear one might say as much as, well, general misgivings around caves in general. Come on now, let‘s continue on."

"Bah, it's fine, never mind me. I just get a bit jump sometimes when..." Leaving off his sentence, he wandered a bit ahead of Kane, marveling as the cave walls seemed to simply melt away into a large chamber. Black candles, it looked like, were placed at locations in this room, around what looked almost like an altar of some sort. Of a design the apprentice mage could not decipher, not being versed in such things at his young age and petty skill level.
Either way, there were some things best left unknown, this being clearly one of them, "I'm sorry, this adventure has been fun and all, yet I think we have overstayed our welcome here." Placing his hand firmly upon Kane's shoulder, he tried to turn her towards the way they had come, "I think maybe it is about time for us to be heading back. After all.......uhhhhh," quick excuses were lost to him momentarily, "I think it might be...dark......soon." he concluded, the pressure he was exerting on her shoulder increasing, "Please, can we go just head back now?"

Viktor took a few quick steps out of the shadows. He gauged the young ones. The young mage seemed to be nervous about the altar. There were no prospects here, but he'd test them all the same. His hood over his face, he attacked.

Rather confused by the seemingly emotionally disoriented man who conveniently popped up out of nowhere and fled just as swiftly, he barely noticed when another new person arrived, this one seemingly from the very shadows themselves.
Taken completely by surprise yet inwardly scolding himself for not heeding Kane's earlier concern that someone else might be in this cavern with them, he leapt back as best he could in the narrow confines of this subterranean chamber. Ho9lding his staff in front of himself as a petty sort of defense, he faced the man who seemed to desire them harm, "Stay back!" he said, not at all sounding as intimidating as he wished due to the waver of his own voice, "I'm warning you, I am one of the mightiest of mages in these lands and with but a word I could reduce you to nothing more than a little pile of ash on the ground." A blatant lie, yet perhaps his bluff could at least buy him a moments time.

Kane ran over to Kalim. Then wiped her face from when she was cring. "Sorry about that." she wispered to him. She than pulled out her staff. "Why are you here? Weren't you the man i meet not that along ago?" She said hoping that she wouldn't have to fight. She looked at the man and looked him up and down.

Saphira giggled maliciously. In all fairness, she was rather young, ruthless and only 16. Too young to suppress her nature. It was in her nature to like anything shadowy, dark, magical, mysterious and if preferable, magical. In fact, she had let Kat, the afrit take over for this little exploration, and she clung to the cave ceiling as a dark, black lizard. Her eyes glowed ebony. She was yet to be detected.

The wanderer known as Gilsworthy had also been taking a stroll, examining this new kingdom he found himself in, when he spotted the girl looking into the cave. 'Dear Lord, why do they always...' he left off his thought as he slowly made his way to the cave as well. Standing just above six feet at 21, he nearly had to crouch to enter the opening that admitted him into the dark recesses. A wave of uneasiness swept over him, quite uncommon to a hardened adventurer like him, and he knew something was up. 'Damn children... well, can't say I wouldnt' have done this myself.' he thought, taking a deep breath in and out before darting inside and beginning to sneak.
His skills allowed him to catch up with the two fairly quickly, and as he saw them he wondered what he was doing even saving them. He bit off a curse as they entered some kind of ritual chamber, just the kind he avoided like the plague, and tried to sneak quicker. As they were looking around amazed, and right before the black hooded figure attacked, his hands leapt out of the black and gripped the backs of their collars firmly and suddenly. "What in the blazes do you think this is?!" he said angrily, "This place is a deathtrap, you morons, get out of here!" he hurled the two of them like sacks of potatoes back into the cave proper right as the black hooded man's blade passed through.
Quickly Gilsworthy dropped back, shouting another, "Get out of here!" to the two, hands moving over his implements scattered in pouches across his chest and belt. The hooded guy swiped again, and once more he barely dodged. How did he get himself into these situations? He only hoped those kids would have the brains to run.

Saphira changed. Or rather, she let Kat do his thing. A dark, small and rather bedragled raven flew from the cave ceiling into the frey. She hoped her illusion would hold up on at least on the first 3 planes. THe rest she didn't care. SHe was sure none here had the lenses, or if they did, they would not have it on.

Viktor stepped back after his first attacks had been thwarted by another. Even more people has seen the altar, even more couldn't leave here alive.
He prepared his blade for another attack on the unknown warrior. This might provide him with a challenge, but he wasn't in the mood for a fight, just a kill.
He swung his sword down on his foe, feinting, then sidestepping and bringing it horizontally from another vector. Let him fight back, but more importantly let him die easy.

Gilsworthy brought his twin daggers out in a cross to block the overhand slice, but had barely enough time to re-cross them to grind up against the horizontal blow, stopping it inches from his face. The blades deadlocked for a few harrying seconds, before Gil released it and spun away into a crouch. "Cheery place you run here, eh?" he commented. Out of the corner of his eye he saw the two still standing there like twin bumps on a log. "I told you two, get out of here!"
Until they were gone, he would remain on the defensive from this creepy assailant. He had no wish to fight him, nor to find out who he was or what the heck this place was here for. The man looked to have more strength, but Gil hoped he could outmatch him in speed and dodge most of the attacks.
