Hunt at Home (David)

[David Augustine]

David nodded as she left him. He then turned and started sprinting up the mountain path. Ocassionally, jumping and climbing up the sides to speed up the process. He made it to the cave that he wanted to go to. And as he expected there was an elk perfectly preserved. It was already dead, but the salt and cold of the mountain kept it in the same condition. He picked up the elk and lifted it on his shoulders. He then started down the mountain trail and walked the path that Eranni pointed out earlier.

"Theiving dog!" Came a shout.

Eranni tore through the brush, chasing a man that shared her dark blue eyes... and was holding her bow.

"It's you're own fault you let me sneak up on you!" He older brother shouted back as he turned to meet her with a swing.

Eranni ducked and seized her bow as it swung. "Give it back or I'll- Oh! Hi there." She elbowed her brother in the stomach as she caught sight of David. "Now behave, we got's company coming."

The youth of Northtower eyed david carefully. "I'm Perin of the Nothtower Clan, you are a friend of my baby sister's?"

Eranni scowled and blushed slightly.

David raised an eyebrow as he heard the shout. He slowed his pace down to a walk. When he arrived he saw Eranni with another man. He smiled as he realized that he was her brother. "I happen to have met her in Avaren." he told him, "It's nice to meet you Perin of the Northtower Clan. I am David." He stretched out his hand to shake his and kept the other wrapped around the game that was on his shoulders.

Perin clasped the hand and shook it. "Good to meet you, David. You coming to us for dinner?"

Eranni nodded, "You don't need to bring your opwn meat, I WAS hunting." She glared at her brother as this was said.

"I doubt that one fowl could feed a small army of hungry warriors." David replied, "And yes, I am coming for dinner. This elk needs to be cooked anyway."

Eranni blushed, but her brother grinned and gave David a friendly clap on the back. "Northtower always has pleantly of food (our Ma makes sure of it) but you and your elk are welcome at our table."

Eranni started down the path, leaving the two men to follow behind her.

David gave an uneasy chuckle as Eranni's brother clapped him on the back. He followed Eranni through the trail though he didn't say anything. He figured that she didn't tell any of her family who he was. And he didn't feel like giving his last name.

They arrived on Northtower land to a courus of shouts and sounds. Perin called up that the had a guest for dinner, and more shouts came to question whom it was. Faces peeked out from the home castle, kinsmen stopping at their weapons play to greet the newcomers.

Eranni's father came forward a hard smile on his face. "Welcome to our home." He said, voice much softer then one would imagine. "I thank you for this." He gestured to the stag, and motioned for a random cousin to shoulder it and take it to be cooked.

Eranni stood beside David, as if gurading him from her loud and outgoing family. "Sorry bout them all." She murmered to him.

How everyone was shouting and greeting him, David couldn't but let his face become some what red. "It's a pleasure to be here." David responded to Eranni's father. He gave a small bow to him. He also let the stag come off his shoulders and let the individual take it. His eyes moved toward Eranni. "I'm not to worried about it." he murmered back.

"You say that now." Eranni mumbled.

"Eran! Take the man inside and get him a drink!" Her father's brother, her uncle came out to stand beside her father. "Raised in a slum were you?"

Eranni scolwed at the man, and motioned for David to follow. "Nearly." She muttered, passing through the corridors.

Alone in the corridors she turned to him, "I am sorry, Norhtower is just a loud group of Kin." She sighed, stopping at a cellar. "What would you like to drink?"

David wasn't really thirsty in the slightest, but decided best to accept something. "Oh, so this is basically all of your family." he replied to her, "Well, I'll take anything to drink. It doesn't matter that much too me."

Eranni grabbed a mug, and selected a bareel of cider to fill it with. "Most of them." She told him, "Lot's are off for training, or are inlisted or something like that." She handed him the mug, and snagged one for herself.

David nodded in comprehension. He took a drink of the cider. It wasn't best cider in that he has ever had, but it would do. He took another swig from his mug and watched Eranni.

Eranni left the cellar, and found an open set of windows. The sills were built deep into the wall, giving anyone a perfect seat. She sat, deciding she didn't want to bring David to the noist hall just yet. "So are you just passing through these mountains? Or staying? If you're staying a season you might freeze to death... the winter's here can kill a grown man some nights."

"I know that, but I don't need to worry about that." David replied to her, "Where I was going wasn't affected by the cold. Of course, that cave wasn't always like that. It just recently did." He had followed her and stood behind Eranni. He drank steadily from his mug looking past her through the window.
