David shook his head and put the book back down. He went around the desk and started to pull open the draws to examine what would be inside of them. He shuffled through it's contents and then closed a draw and went to the next one. One of them was locked so he took out the key that he found. It worked the draw nearly popped open when he unlocked it. Nothing of intrest was in it. He closed the draw back and locked it again. He rose and walked out into the hallway.

"Nothing?" Kaldaka queried as he came out and she carefully closed the door before proceeding on. She could feel the buzzing ball in her pocket, longing to come out. Clenching her teeth, she moved on to the next door. "David, be careful in here," she whispered. "I don't like the feel of it." Suddenly she made a resolution. As David went in, she came in behind him, carefully closing the door so that it just looked closed.

David looked back at her as she followed him and made the door look as if it was closed. He then turned back not questioning her but continued to search the room. Being careful to place any moved objects back to their original position and location. There was another door within this room. He slowly walked up to and leaned his ear to it. He heard nothing. He then stepped back and examined the door. It was heavily made as if it was to store something. It looked like a door that led to the weaponry room. He turned the handle carefully. It was locked. He took out the skeleton key and tried to unlock it. He heard a click and opened the door carefully. He saw nothing as he opened the door. He slowly walked into the room. He was right, this was a back door to a storage room that held many different weapons and equipment. He looked through it examining the weapons and made his way to the table. There was papers spread out with different books opened. It looked like if some type of research was being done here. He moved some of the papers away and saw his spear head there. He grabbed it and watched it slowly start to glow in his hands. However, it would never be as bright until a new weapon was forged using this head. There was dried blood on from the fight that he had. He took out a cloth and wrapped spearhead inside of it and slipped it into his pocket.

"Found it?" Kaldaka queried as David slipped something that glowed slightly into his pocket. Glancing around the room, her eyes narrowed, and she shivered slightly. "I don't like this room," she said firmly to David, her grey eyes snapping fire. "Let's leave. We've got the spear-head, that's all we needed, right? I don't like how we've found no one to oppose us. There's bound to be something wrong around here. Come on." Almost running to the door, she slipped it open and glanced around the corridor. Nobody. Stepping out, she beckoned to David, quickly closing the door behind him as he left. "Come on," she half whispered, her eyes steel and wide, with the subdued fire in them let off of it's leash and leaping through her eyes.

David nodded and walked out of the weaponry and out of the study. The stood now in the hallway that they traveled through. He couldn't tell what time it was. He moved through the hall towards the way they entered. It was an odd situation. It would be most difficult if they were to go out the window again. Jumping downward isn't the same as jumping up. He would have to be more careful. The only other solution would be for them to go out the front door.

Kaldaka raised her eyebrows as she looked over the options for getting out. "Hmmm. Well, this will be interesting," she commented wryly, walking over to the front door and looking it over. Closing her eyes, she placed her hand on it and pressed. Holding her position there for several seconds, she finally let go and almost staggered back. "Something powerful guards that entrance," she said once she regained her breath. "I can't break it."

David looked around and then closed his eyes. He thought for a potental ways out. They hadn't been discovered yet, but if anyone was to find that they were here or anyone that wasn't supposed to be here...trouble would come. He walked to the door and examined it. There wouldn't be much that he could do either. He went back to the way they entered. He finally found the room and stepped inside. The window was still open. He gazed down the outside. He took a large gulp did he dare do this.

Kaldaka looked up at it. Suddenly an idea burst into her mind. "Look, I'm not that good at this yet, but this is the best place to practice, I guess." Taking a loop of greyish hithlain rope out of her small pack, she attached it to her sword-belt. Loosening her dagger in her sheath, she started climbing the wall. Halfway up, she fell, breaking it with a roll. Her face pale but determined, she started climbing again. Soon she had reached the window. Attaching the rope to the metal window-frame, she let it down. "I don't know how much you need it, but it's best to be careful," she called down. "Come on up."

David nodded and started to climb. It was difficult at first but then got an idea to speed his progress. He soon started jumping up the wall while holding the rope. He was soon at the window sill and looked down at the ground outside. "Gather your things. We will have to climb down." he simply stated though it was quite obvious.

Kaldaka nodded, pulled up her rope, and dangled it down the other side. "I won't lose it," she said with a grin. "Come down behind me on the rope. Don't untie it," she called back as she quickly rappelled down. Within a few seconds she was standing on the ground. "Hurry!" she called out.

David gripped the rope and jumped out the window. He stopped himself from hitting wall with his feet and started hopping down the wall. In a matter of minutes he was on the ground next Kaldaka. He looked at her and smiled. What they set out to do seemed to be a success.

She smiled back at David, her cheeks aglow with success and adventure. Walking over to the rope, she gave it a yank and it came down easily, the knot unraveling as if it was nothing. Coiling it back up in her pack, she glanced around. "I doubt we'll be interrupted now," she said with a grin, the light in her eyes dancing as she started to walk toward the gate, though, despite her words, her hand was still on the hilt of her sword.

"Yeah." David managed to reply. He walked toward the gate by her side. When the approached it, he tried to open it but it was locked. He then climbed and vaulted over the fence. He landed on the other side knelt down and with one hand touching the ground. He stood up fully and looked back at Kaldaka with a smile.

Kaldaka smiled back, her cheeks still flushed, and spider-climbed the wall. Dropping on the other side, she landed in a crouched position, springing back up almost immediately. "Good job," she said warmly. "I hope you find someone who can make a spear for the spear head."

"I hope for the same." David replied, "And a good job to you. Thank you for all your help." He then slowly walked down the trail heading back for Avaren. He reached into his pocket and unwrapped the spearhead. It glowed faintly on the peace of leather. I only hope that either it can be reforged to the same weapon or one of more power. he thought to himself.
