Away from the World

[David Augustine]

David was lying back on the ground inside of a cave. Even though it was winter and literally freezing, it was warm inside the cave. It had a breeze of warm air coming from deeper within the cave. He knew what the source of it was, but decided not to journey that far at the moment.

He sighed and studied the surroundings. He told Raven that he'd be at the mountains if she needed anything. He probably should've been more specific about where he was. It was true that he was near the peak. The air was thinner and it was much colder at this elevation than at the base. He glanced down toward the depths of the cave. He then shifted his sight back towards the enterance of the cave as if he was waiting for someone to show up.

Raven moved through the mountains, on her way to the dark city. She had to seek out the answers to her questions. She ran her fingers through her hair, knowing that David was somewhere around here but who knew where. Shrugging off the thought she continued to walk, the snow came up passed her ankles but she didn't mind the cold that much.

David glanced back toward the back of the cave. He was starting to get hungry. Why he came here without food was beyond him. He stood up and stretched out his arms. He walked to the enterance of the cave. He watched as the snow fell but melted half way down towards the ground. He walked to the edge of the cliff and looked around. He hoped that there might be a standed deer or something for him to catch.

Raven heard something, she was just below him on the other road. She brushed of the snow from her cloak, she could of levitated and want through tihs mess but she didn't feel like it. She placed her hand on her stomach, feeling the affects of hunger but chose to wait till she got out the mountaints to worry about that.

He saw it. There was a stray deer that was on the mountain's side. It was near the bottom, but David could jump down there without getting hurt. He ran back into the cave and then came charging out at full speed. He left the cliff ledge with a giant leap and came rushing down with his spear out. He thought he saw someone on the mountain side, but it was just a blur to him with how fast he was coming down on the deer. He felt has his spear hit the deer and he jumped from his spear as it began sink through the deer's body.

Raven heard something and turned quickly on her heel to see what has jumped...She saw the deer and the person, but couldn't see who it was. She arched a brow and watched for a moment. This was of no interest to her so she walked away, not bothering to keep quiet.

David lifted the deer on his shoulders. This was going to be hard for him. Since deer are somewhat heavier than people. He took his spear and stuck it in the ground. He then used it as a catapult to send up into the air. He landed on the mountain side, higher up than what he was previously. He continued to do this as he reached the cave. He turned his head at one of the stops but only remained there for a second. He wondered who would be here as he advanced to the cave. He finally reached it and started fixing the deer. He drained it of the parts that wouldn't be used and allowed it to drain out some.

Raven had to pass the cave in order to get to the next mountain. She breathed in, the air was heavy with the smell of blood. Her nose twitched in the direction it was coming from as she passed the cave. She paused for a moment and levitated off the ground, she was getting cold but not by much but enough.

David laid back against the cave. He looked from the dead deer to the dark depths of the cave to the enterance. He felt the warm outbursts of wind that came from the cave's depths and the cold intake that came after. It kept the cave relatively warm that's why snow and ice didn't form at the enterance of it. He turned his head again towards the enterance. He started to see what look like someone rising from below.

She shiverse and floated in the air untill the snow around her ankles had melted, it was getting late and it would be getting much colder. She needed to quicken her pace or she would freeze to death most likely in the night air.

David rose and walked out toward the cave enterance. He looked around in all directions not sure of what was going on. He looked down the mountain and saw nothing. He looked up toward the sky but nothing caught his eye. It was wierd for a moment he could've swore that he saw someone flying.

Raven sighed and settled down into the snow again, at the mouth of the cave, she looked at the snow, it was getting darker and she was wasting time and she swore softly. She hoped there was shelter further along the path.

A hill ran up David's spine causing him to shake. He slowly turned and walked back inside of the cave. he saw that the deer was ready. He cut off the pieces of meat and carved it porperly. He then started a fire and set the meat over it. He sat there and watched it as it cooked.

Raven smelled the dear and swore softly, that made her hungry and more cold than she was. Why couldn't she be an elemeist already, she wouldn't be cold...She leaned on the mouth of the cave and shivered.

David turned his head and saw her. It was lady that he knew, but wondering why she was only at the mouth. It was cold out there and much warmer within the cave. He remembered that she wanted to go somewhere. He made his decision and walked up to her from behind. "Do you want to come in, my dear?" he asked her.
